Here we have something a little more lifelike than Lucy from my last post. Darwinius masillae, or “Ida” as this particular specimen has been dubbed.
Considering the age, 47-million-years-old, I don’t think there’s much point to looking for anything especially relatable here. Reconstructed as it is, it just looks like some variety of lemur to me.
Still, I think it’s very convincing as an animal not unlike a lemur. Not quite photorealistic, but close enough for one’s mind to fill in the gaps and imagine this little critter leaping from tree to tree.
